Raggedy James "Blood" Ulmer's guitar will be showing its jagged edges as he sings funk and blues in New Morning on Friday 30th January, only 3 short days before his birthday, this venerable gentleman has been rocking the blues since 1969 and is still shaking up stages left and right.  His discography is extensive, both as a lead artist and as a supporting artist for other musicians.  This man knows how to fill a room.

His latest music is influenced by Hurricane Katrina, and his anguish at the destruction of New Orleans.  Many of his songs, from Bad Blood to Survivors of the Hurricane deal with the subject in a way that indicates he's not quite ready to let it go just yet.

Romancero GitanoThe Paris Jazz Club is an association of four jazz clubs in Paris that has the noble ambition of facilitating access to Jazz for everyone.  On Wednesday 21st January 2009 they're getting together with Arts, Culture, Nuances to distribute their prize, the DjangodOr, to the best Jazz musicians.  This will be the 17th year in which this prize is awarded.

The four clubs in question are the Baiser Salé, Sunside, Sunset and the Duc des Lombards.  Their association has a website through which they promote the clubs and their music, and at which you can find details of future events.
